Spanish-language materials

Amplify Science is committed to providing support to meet the needs of all learners. For Spanish speaking students, greater access to rich science content is achieved with Amplify Science through the use of a pedagogical approach that offers multiple points of entry. In addition, Spanish language supports are available across the curriculum, including Spanish kits that offer Spanish versions of all student-facing print materials, as well as Spanish digital licenses for teachers (K-8) and students (6-8).

The same rigor in terms of scientific accuracy, rich content and language, and literacy development was used in the creation of the Amplify Science Spanish materials. To ensure equity, all Spanish materials were carefully translated using academic Spanish, paying particular attention to consistency and the use of grade-level appropriate language in order to support language development.

DIGITAL SPANISH TEACHER LICENSES

Spanish licenses, which are available for purchase as an add-on to regular licenses, give teachers digital access to the following materials in Spanish:

  • Media, including lesson projections and Classroom Slides
  • Downloadable PDFs of print materials (including Classroom Wall materials, Investigation Notebooks, assessments, and more)
  • Recommended in-class “teacher talk” moments

Teachers with the Spanish license access these Spanish supports via a toggle button within their digital Teacher’s guide, making it easy to switch back-and-forth between English and Spanish without disruption.

DIGITAL SPANISH STUDENT LICENSES (6–8)

Digital Spanish supports are also available for purchase for students in grades 6–8. The Spanish student license offers students the ability to experience the full digital student experience, including all lesson instructions, vocabulary, videos, and more, in Spanish.

When schools purchase the Spanish digital student license, teachers of those students get access to a new dashboard that allows them to choose which language each student in their class has access to: English, Spanish, or both. When access is set to “both”, a new toggle button will appear on students’ screens. The toggle allows them to quickly switch back and forth between the English and Spanish versions of all lesson content, allowing those students the space to be metacognitive and make decisions about their learning on their own.

  • Science articles
  • Investigation Notebooks
  • Classroom print materials (e.g. Classroom Wall materials, card sorts, etc.)
  • Student-facing copymasters, including assessments
