mCLASS: Educator Home and Student Home

The home pages for educators and students using mCLASS.

Updated over a month ago

Amplify has a single entryway for educators (Educator Home) as well as for students (Student Home) with a new look and feel for the new school year.

Educator Home

The Educator Home page provides ready access to lesson-related content and student data. The Recommendations have been streamlined, and a new Quick Links section gives convenient access to other parts of the platform.

After logging in, you’ll arrive at Educator Home, where you’ll find a streamlined way to access your assessment, reporting, and instructional tools. Educator Home may appear different depending on your institution’s licensed products.

Amplify navigation

The Amplify navigation displays across the top of the page and includes the Home icon, Programs & Apps icon, and Account Settings icon (next to your name).

  • Home: Click Home to navigate back to Educator Home.

  • Programs & Apps: Click Programs & Apps to access tools such as mCLASS Groups and mCLASS Assessment Importer, as well as mCLASS Resources.

  • Account Settings: Click your name to access Account Settings or log out.

Programs & Apps

Programs & Apps contains links to your Amplify programs as well as tools and resources.

  • In the Tools section are links to tools such as mCLASS Groups and mCLASS Assessment Importer.

  • In the Other Resources section, you’ll find the mCLASS Resources, where you can access how-to guides and research materials.

Account Settings icon

When you click your name next to the Account Settings icon in the Amplify navigation, your username, the Account Settings link, and Logout link display. Click Account Settings to open the Account Settings window, or click Logout to log out of Amplify.

Account Settings

When you click Account Settings, the Account Settings window opens. There are two sections in this window: Account details and Password management.

  • Account details: The Account details section displays fields for First name and Last name, and displays your email. You can change your first and last name. After making changes, click Save.

  • Password management: If your account has password management permissions, you can change your password. Otherwise, a message displays that password management is not available.

Welcome

The Welcome message and avatar display at the upper left of the page. Click the avatar icon to change your avatar characteristics. Your students also have this feature on Student Home.

Your Programs

Your Programs displays at the left under the Welcome message. This section contains program buttons for all the Amplify programs your organization is licensed to. Go to Your Programs and click mCLASS to navigate to the mCLASS platform.

If you are licensed to multiple Amplify products, click Show More to show all programs in the list. Click Show Less to collapse the list.

Quick Links

The new Quick Links section displays at the bottom left of the page.

This section includes up to six buttons with useful links (depending on licensing):

  • PD Library: Opens the PD Library, where you can download student materials and access training courses.

  • Desmos Classroom: Opens the Featured Collections page on teacher.desmos.com. Click to explore and access free content in Desmos Classroom.

  • Custom Activities: Opens the Custom Activities page on teacher.desmos.com. You can also view your custom activities here once you’ve created them.

  • Preview Student Home: Opens the ‘preview’ version of Student Home. You can see each of your classes’ view of Student Home.

Recommendations

The Recommendations section displays at the upper middle of the page. This section has been redesigned to a more streamlined view. Review the notifications in the Recommendations area to see what’s new in mCLASS.

  • Click the button in the lower left of a Recommendation card to learn more.

  • Click See All (available depending on your licensed programs) to open the Recommendations page, where all of the Recommendations display.

  • Click Back at the upper left of the page to return to Educator Home.

Tutorial

Click the question mark icon at the bottom right of the page to start the Educator Home walkthrough, which gives a quick overview of the highlights of the page.

Amplify chat

Click the chat icon to open the Amplify chat panel. You can send a message to Amplify Customer Care and Support, or view your message history.

Student Home

mCLASS students will arrive at Student Home after logging in. From Student Home, your students can complete assigned mCLASS assessments. Student Home has a new look and feel for the new school year.

Student Home may appear different and the features available may vary depending on your students’ grade level and the Amplify products your institution uses.

K–5 Student navigation

The Student navigation displays across the top of the page and includes the student's name, key icon, the backpack icon, and logout icon.

  • Students click the key icon to enter a single session class code generated by a teacher. For the school year 2024–2025, single session codes can only be generated in Desmos Classroom.

  • Students click the backpack icon to view links to Student Home and mCLASS. When students are in the student online assessment platform, they see a Home icon in the navigation bar that they can click to return to Student Home.

  • Students click the logout icon to log out of Amplify.

K–5 Avatar

Students can click their avatar to edit the characteristics and personalize it.

The Avatar builder for K–5 students has a time limit of 2 minutes each day. After this time has elapsed, students are prompted to save and they are returned to Student Home. They can return to the Avatar builder the next day.

K–5 Student Home

Student Home appears slightly different depending on students’ grade level and Amplify programs licensed.

Apps

Three buttons display at the top of the page: Apps, To Do, and Past Work. The Apps view is the only view necessary for mCLASS assessments. App buttons display based on license entitlements, so students will only see buttons for products they are entitled to. The mCLASS Literacy app, which previously took the form of a “pinned” assignment at the bottom of a student’s To Do list, now displays in the new Apps section.

Grade 6 Amplify Navigation

The Amplify navigation displays across the top of the page and includes the Home icon, Programs & Apps icon, notifications icon, and Account Settings icon.

  • Students click Home to return to Student Home.

  • Students click Programs & Apps to view the Amplify programs their institution is licensed to, as well as links to tools and resources.

  • The notifications icon is not necessary for mCLASS assessments.

  • Students can click their name to view Account Settings (students do not have permissions to edit their name or password) or log out of Amplify. You can verify the name of the student next to the Account Settings icon to make sure the student is logged in correctly before they begin assessment.

Programs & Apps

Programs & Apps contains links to Amplify programs and other important tools.

Grade 6 Student Home

Welcome

The Welcome section displays the student’s avatar and a greeting to the student, as well as the Enter a class code button (for the school year 2024–25, class codes can only be generated in Desmos Classroom). The student can click the avatar icon to change the characteristics of their avatar and personalize it. The student's assignment stream may also display under the Welcome section (depending on the products used in the student's school).

Grade 6 Assignments

The student's assignment stream displays under the Home header in the center of the screen. The mCLASS Literacy card displays in the stream. To navigate to mCLASS student assessment, students click Start under Complete assessments on the mCLASS Literacy card.

If the mCLASS Literacy card is not visible under Home, students can look for it in the stream under their Welcome section (click Show more to expand the stream if necessary).
