Amplify CKLA 3rd Edition: Assigning and single session codes

Assigning makes it easy to distribute assessments to your students.

Updated this week

Teachers can assign assessments to any active class. This includes Amplify classes, Google classes, and classes synced from Clever and ClassLink. If you don’t have any classes, then you need to create or import a class before you start assigning.

You can assign from the curriculum through any Amplify CKLA 3rd Edition assessment.

If your district enrolls through a third-party enrollment method (such as Clever, ClassLink, GG4L, or OneRoster), your classes should be synced from your enrollment method.

Assigning in Amplify CKLA 3rd Edition

Assign assessments to share with your students on their Student Home.

  1. Navigate to the assessment and click @ Assign.

Clicking @ Assign assigns the assessment to your class. You can also click the drop-down menu to the right of @ Assign for the option to assign to your class(es) or create a single session code.

  2. Click Assign to Your Classes.

Assigning options display with a list of your classes and scheduling choices.

  3. Select each class you want to complete the assessment.

  4. Schedule the assessment and the due date. The assessment is assigned immediately with no due date, or you can choose to schedule the assignment release and set a due date.

You can schedule assessments in advance to be delivered to your students at your preferred date and time. The time defaults to 8:00 a.m. on the selected date, but you can edit the time for your class.

Due dates are optional. If you choose to set a due date, it will default to 11:59 p.m. on the date selected, but you can edit the time for your class.
You can select any date from the present to the end of the school year.

Students can access work past the due date.

  5. Click Assign lesson to share the assignment with your class. Assignments display on Educator Home. Clicking Cancel returns you to the assessment overview page without assigning it.

Students can view the assignment on their Student Home. Learn about Student Home.

Posting to Google Classroom

When you import a class from Google Classroom, you select a posting preference.

If you choose Post immediately to Google Classroom, assignments will be added to the class in Google Classroom.

If you choose Do not post to Google Classroom, your assignments will not display in Google Classroom. Assignments created in Amplify will display in Educator Home and Student Home, based on the schedule and due date.

Single session codes

If you have students that aren’t in your classes, you can use a single session code to invite students to take an assessment. The students can join as a logged-in user or join anonymously with a temporary handle.

Any assessments delivered with a single session code will not be reflected in reporting data.

Educators: inviting students with a code

  1. Navigate to the lesson or activity and click the drop-down menu to the right of @ Assign.

  2. Click Create single session code.

Single Session Invite Codes options display.

In the Session Security Settings, you can allow students to join without signing in.

If students sign in, they can save their work and you can view their names.

If you don’t require student sign-in, they can join the activity anonymously but can’t save their work, and you can’t view their names.

  3. Share the code with your students. You can also copy the invitation link to share the code through your preferred student-contact method.

Codes are not case sensitive.

Students: joining with a single session code

If students are already logged in, they can enter the code on their Student Home.

Student Home may look different depending on the student’s grade and the Amplify products available on their account.

Single session assignments will display on the Student Home screen once the student logs in to the session. For Grades K–5, these sessions are available in Past Work. For Grades 6–8, the status is “Started” in the student stream.

If students are not logged in, they can go to learning.amplify.com/join/ and enter the code.

  1. Students enter the code and click Log in.

  2. If the code is a valid single session code, and students are logged in, they will land on the activity page, where they can start the activity, sign out, or join anonymously (if applicable).

If students enter an invalid code, confirm the code and have them reenter it.

    Learn more about class codes.
