Deck visualizations

Deck 1 — Addition

Deck 1 uses dot representations and includes addition problems with addends of 1 to 6. This deck focuses on the addition strategy of counting on.

Deck 2 — Addition

Deck 2 uses 10-frames and includes all addition problems within 10, including problems in which one of the addends is 0. This deck focuses on counting on and making 10. When a card is in Box A, B, or C, students can move the counters onto the 10-frame. Upon moving a counter, the total number of counters on the 10-frame is shown. When a card is in Box D or above, student interaction on the card is disabled.

Deck 3 — Addition

Deck 3 uses number bars and includes all addition problems within 10, excluding problems in which one of the addends is 0. This deck presents the most abstract addition representations and allows students to recall and build automaticity with the facts from Decks 1 and 2.

Deck 4 — Subtraction

Deck 4 uses 10-frames and includes all subtraction problems within 10. This deck focuses on the property of 0, a number subtracted from itself, counting back, and adding up. When a card is in Box A, B, or C, students can move the counters onto the 10-frame. Upon moving a counter, the total number of counters on the 10-frame is shown. When a card is in Box D or above, student interaction on the card is disabled.

Deck 5 — Subtraction

Deck 5 uses number paths and includes all subtraction problems within 10, except problems in which 0 is the subtrahend. This deck focuses on a number subtracted from itself, counting back, and adding up. When a card is in Box A, B, or C, students can click the number cards in the number path to model the subtraction problem. When a number card is clicked, it becomes a lighter shade. Students can only click the number cards in decreasing order. When a card is in Box D or above, student interaction on the card is disabled.

Deck 6 — Subtraction

Deck 6 uses number bars and includes all subtraction problems within 10, except problems in which 0 is the subtrahend or the difference. This deck presents the most abstract subtraction representations and allows students to recall and build automaticity with the facts from Decks 4 and 5.
