Beginning-of-Year Assessment
Updated over a week ago

Teachers administer the Beginning-of-Year assessment to measure student mastery of prerequisite skills from the previous grade level.

The Beginning-of-Year assessment can be found in the Amplify digital experience, on the grade level overview page, as its own tile.

When you click on the Beginning-of-Year Assessment tile, you will be brought to the following page:

Click SETTINGS to open a settings panel where you can unlock the assessment for students in your class. Students will not be able to access the assessment until you unlock it for them.

You can either click the purple Unlock all students button to unlock the entire class, or choose students individually.

From the assessment page, you can either select Assign or Teach.

Select Assign to quickly assign the assessment to your class through Amplify, Microsoft Teams, or Google Classroom.

Select Teach to present the assessment questions to your class while pacing and monitoring students’ progress in real time.

If you would like to administer the assessment with paper and pencil, click Beginning-of-Year Assessment Student Edition beneath Materials. This will open up an easy-to-print file of the assessment.

Under materials, you can click Beginning-of-Year Assessment Teacher Edition which contains the correct answers for each of the questions in the assessment.

If you administer the assessment in the digital experience, you can grade open-response items from Classwork.

You can view performance in reporting.
