ClassLink Enrollment: Changing the class display name

How do I append a teacher’s name to each enrolled class?

Updated over a week ago

If your student information system (SIS) is configured to share class names by subject and grade, it is possible that duplicate class names (for example, English Language - 6) within schools or districts could be shared with ClassLink. When these classes are ingested by Amplify Enrollment, the duplicate class names display in the selectors within your Amplify programs.

To avoid the confusion of duplicate class names, you can use the Roster Server preprocessor to create a custom configuration that appends the teacher name to the SIS class name automatically.

Please note that following the steps in this document will change the class names in all your Roster Server export apps, not just Amplify’s. For more information about configuring the Roster Server preprocessor, please refer to this ClassLink help article.

  1. From the Roster Server Dashboard, click Settings, and select Preprocessor.

  2. On the Preprocessor page, click Create New Config.

  3. Provide a unique name for your configuration in the Config Name field.

  4. Click Classes in the navigation bar at the left of the page.

  5. Go to Postfix Settings, and select the box labeled Rename Classes.

  6. Select Append Teacher Name from the Class Rename Mode list.

    • Click Preview Config to preview the JSON code for the custom configuration.

    • Click Save to add the custom configuration and return to the Preprocessor page.

  7. Locate the name you gave the custom configuration and verify that it is Enabled in the status column. Once enabled, the preprocessor will append the teacher name to each class when your SIS syncs with Roster Server.

  8. Click an icon in the Actions column to Edit, Duplicate, or Delete your custom configuration.
