Amplify’s flexible assigning features make it easy to direct your students to lessons. All assigning options below are available for districts who have purchased the Amplify digital experience licenses. Teachers must also have individual accounts with classes entitled to the corresponding unit to assign. Visit the Shared Accounts for the Digital Experience article to learn more about the differences between individual and shared teacher/student accounts.

To begin assigning lessons in an elementary unit, navigate to any beta lesson brief and click the blue “Assign” button. You will see a variety of options for assigning the lesson in the menu:

Assigning in Amplify provides an exciting pathway for students to access digital lessons directly within Amplify. Upon clicking “Amplify” from the “@ Assign” menu on the lesson brief, a settings panel will open. You must choose at least one class section and one lesson within the panel to create an assignment.

You also have the option to schedule assignments and set due dates. Scheduling allows you to create assignments in advance and deliver lessons to students at your preferred date and time. The time will default to 8:00am on the selected date unless you choose otherwise. Similarly, the due dates will default to 11:59pm on the date selected unless you set an exact time.

Any assignments created in Amplify will appear for your students in Home. Visit the Student Home help article for grades K–5 to learn more about how your assignment settings affect the student experience.

Copying a lesson link allows you to paste a URL to that Amplify lesson into an email or the learning platform of your choice. When students click the link, a new browser tab will launch the lesson in Amplify. Students will then be able to access the lesson content and work on digital activities.

Assigning in Google Classroom simplifies navigation for your students by providing a link to Amplify lessons within your Google Classroom stream. You’ll need to set up classes with students in Google Classroom before getting started. Visit the Google Classroom Help Center for more information.

Upon clicking the “Google Classroom” option, you’ll be prompted to create or log in to a Google account if you haven’t already done so. Once you have logged in and set up your classes, you can select the type of action to create and which class section you’d like to apply the action to. For this example, we’ll create an assignment.

After choosing a class section and action, you’ll be presented with additional options and settings for the lesson. If you’d like to assign a lesson to more than one class, you can select all the appropriate classes with the “For” checklist.

Once you have chosen your settings and clicked Assign, you’ll receive confirmation that the assignment has been created with a link to view it in the Google Classroom stream. Any assignments you create from Amplify will also be recorded in your “Classwork” tab within Google Classroom.

When students open the Amplify assignment in the Google Classroom stream and click the link, they’ll be taken directly to the lesson in the Amplify platform in a new browser tab to work on the digital activities.

Student rosters, work, and grades are not currently synced between the Amplify platform and Google Classroom. Review student work directly from the teacher lesson experience in Amplify.

Assigning in Microsoft Teams simplifies navigation for your students by providing a link to Amplify lessons within Teams. You’ll need to set up classes with students in Teams before getting started. Visit the Microsoft Teams Help Center for more information.

Upon clicking the “Microsoft Teams” button, you’ll be prompted to create or log in to your Microsoft account.

Once you have logged in and set up your classes, you can choose to share the lesson link to a channel or create an assignment. Sharing to a channel is a quick way to post a direct link to the Amplify activity in the Teams channel of your choice. The URL for the corresponding Amplify activity will pre-populate in the “Say something about this” field. The link will continue to function properly if you edit or replace the URL with text of your choosing.

Creating an assignment allows you to set more preferences for the linked lesson. You can choose a class, modify the title, set the due date and point values, and add instructions if needed. Any assignments you create from Amplify will be posted to the General channel and recorded in your “Assignments” tab within Microsoft Teams. Note that assignment creation is only available for Office 365 Education accounts.

If you shared a link in the channel, students will see the link as a post. Clicking the thumbnail link will open a new browser tab that redirects students directly to the corresponding lesson in the Amplify platform.

If you created an assignment, students will see the assignment you created in the channel. After clicking “view assignment”, students can access the link that will open a new browser tab for the corresponding lesson in the Amplify platform.

Student rosters, work, and grades are not currently synced between the Amplify platform and Microsoft Teams. Review student work directly from the teacher lesson experience in Amplify.
