For Instructors

Lesson Overview

The Overview describes the big ideas students will grapple with, and summarizes the lesson’s sequence of activities. There is also a list of Materials, a Preparation section, the Lesson Objective, Words to Use, and Differentiation. The list of Materials gives you quick access to all the projections and other materials for the lesson, such as videos, guides, and additional items to help you facilitate the lesson. The Preparation section points out key moments and materials to prepare. It also describes the location and content of the lesson’s Exit Ticket. The Lesson Objective details the reading, writing, and/or speaking and listening objectives. Words to Use points out key vocabulary from the reading and Differentiation describes differentiated supports and provides additional suggestions for modifying activities.

For Students

The Lesson Brief for students includes a list of required Materials, an Overview, Words to know, and Suggested Reading. The students navigate between each section of the Overview page by clicking the index in the left column or the Back to top button in the bottom left corner. The Overview describes the big ideas students will grapple with, and summarizes the lesson’s sequence of activities. Words to know has a list of vocabulary words from the lesson. The Suggested Reading section offers similar readings that the student may be interested in.
