In addition to 22 instructional close reading chapters, students in Amplify Close Reading have access to text-based comprehension practice, where they can practice general comprehension and their new close reading skills on both literary and informational short texts.

To access the Practice passages, students should click the “P” on the Close Reading map:

This will load a sequence of short literary and informational texts, each with 5 text-based comprehension items for students to answer.

When students complete a practice passage, they will receive a score (based on the percentage of correct answers on their first try) and that information will be visible in Reporting.

To receive another passage, they should return to the Map and click the “P” again.
