How is a student’s Mastery Score defined?

Amplify Fraction’s Mastery Score metric is NOT simply a raw percentage correct, although for ease of interpretation it is scaled from 0-100. Students will have a unique Mastery Score for each practice (corresponding to each episode), updated after every question the student interacts with. A subscore of mastery is calculated for each learning outcome based on performance on relevant items, and then those are weighted and combined to yield the overall mastery score presented to students and in the embedded reports for teachers.

Subscores and overall mastery scores take into account both the learning outcomes and recency, so students don’t have to worry about “digging a hole” that’s impossible to get out of as more recent correct answers count more than historical incorrect answers.
