Getting Started as a Teacher

As a teacher, you can create classes, view student reports, and access content. Here's a step-by-step guide for using Amplify Fractions on your iPad. Below, you'll find similar instructions for setting up your students.

1. On your (the teacher's) iPad, open the Safari browser and navigate to fracturedtales.com.

2. Click on the Teacher button.

3. If you plan to use iPads in the classroom, you MUST fill out the required fields under Sign Up with Amplify  (to create a new Teacher Account with Amplify Fractions). After you fill out the fields, click on the Next button. You can only select the Sign up with Google button if you use Chromebooks or other desktops in the classroom.

4. If you accept Amplify's Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, check the box and the click Continue.

5. You will now see a Welcome screen. You can choose to check out Amplify Fractions by pressing Play or create your first class by pressing Create a class (see additional instructions in next section).

6. Because you're on an iPad, your experience will now diverge slightly from signup on a computer. When you press Play, you will see a screen with instructions on how to view Amplify Fractions on your iPad.

7. First, you will have to click on a specific button on the Safari browser bar (at the top of the screen). Then click on the Add to Home Screen icon.

8. Finally, confirm by clicking the Add text.

9. If you return to the Home Screen (by pressing the Home button on your iPad), you will see a new icon named Amplify Fractions. Clicking on this icon will start the application. You will be asked to sign in again.

Setting Up Your Students

Each class you create as a teacher will have a corresponding Class Code that you can view on the Teacher Dashboard. This is the code you will share with your students so they can access Amplify Fractions.

You can create this class code by clicking on the Create a class button on the Welcome screen (see Step 5 in previous section) or clicking the Create class button on the Teacher Dashboard (see screenshot below). This is the code you will share with your students so they can access Amplify Fractions.

1. Students should open the Safari browser on their iPads, and navigate to fracturedtales.com.

2. Once there, they should click on the STUDENT button.

3. Your students will be prompted to enter the Class Code, which consists of exactly six letters or numbers. You should provide them with the code for their corresponding class. Once students have entered the code, they should press the Next button.

5. If you plan to use iPads in the classroom, your students MUST fill out the required fields under Sign Up with Amplify  (to create a new Student Account with Amplify Fractions). After they fill out the fields, they should click on the Next button. Your students can only select the Sign up with Google button if you use Chromebooks or other desktops in the classroom.

6. Your students will then see your (their teacher's) name, as well as the Class name you have assigned to the class. If this information looks correct, your students should click on Join class. Otherwise, they may have incorrectly entered the Class Code, and they should click on Try again.

7. Next, your students will see their Student Dashboards. From there, they can select Fractions.

8. At this point, the steps resemble what you have already done as a teacher. Your students will see a screen with instructions on how to view Amplify Fractions on their iPads. Your students will have to click on a specific button on the Safari browser bar (at the top of the screen). They should then click on the Add to Home Screen icon.

10. Finally, they can confirm by clicking the Add text.

11. If they return to their Home Screens (by pressing the Home button on their iPads), they will see a new icon named Amplify Fractions. Clicking on this icon will start the application. Your students will be asked to sign in again.
